{`Osc} Morphine

"Love it love it love it!"

submission: {`Osc} Morphine
date: June 30, 2008

I love love love LOVE deep atmospheric DnB, so you fed me some hard candy with Morphine.

I think you did an absolutely amazing job here. I don't know a lot about DnB, but your drum line and percussion sequences are so well executed (not to mention just the right volume), and the synth is very unique and cool. To make it even more interesting, the intense amount of reverb (that's GOOD) sates my ears like no other track on NG. It's on par with the music from the video game P.N. 03; really good stuff.

I'd love to hear more of this from you. Keep it up!

That One Mario Song!

"All right."

date: June 30, 2008

This song is actually just Super Mario Bros. Not Super Mario Bros. 3.

Pretty basic. You missed one note (should be at the end of 0:10), I'm sure of, you got another one wrong (at 0:15), I'm sure of, and the end of the song has a few too many notes, starting at 0:25 and ending at 0:26.

Midway (Original Mix)

"Well done."

date: June 30, 2008

I like the intro up until 0:29, when you bring a lot in at once. It makes it seem like you cut out a few seconds to fit more in. But, I really love the synths you have used, with much reverb and delay!

There is honestly not much for me to say. I thought the progression of the song was top-notch except for the intro tidbit which I have stated and the peak buildup. Not climactic really, but it does all come together anyway. Nice job, keep it up.

"Yummy intro."

date: May 11, 2008

I really really really love the intro. Honestly, that's probably the best part! I wish you could have given the rest of the song the same feeling as the intro, but it changed quite a bit and feels too different.

In any case, you've got a great track that definitely has the potential to win the contest. Good luck!

Author's Response:

Thanks man. Sorry it had to be rushed... in the full version the intro will be like 2 mins long ;)

DJ Derrick--Walk Alone (Ext.)

"Great track here!"

date: May 6, 2008

Not much I have to say (I'm tired). You implemented the vocals almost perfectly, in my opinion. Not a big fan of Kate Leising, but the point here is that it seems you know how to lay down vocals in a trance track.

Synth was top notch, percussion played pretty well, and it all flowed very nicely. Overall, this is a great track; not my favorite type of trance, but I can tell that there was a lot of effort put forth. Keep it up. =)

Thanks for the review man!

too bad it didn't make top tracks ever...i don't know. seems like NG is a bunch of douches for not putting this on there. look at that bottom song. terrible static crap. and he only had 5 dls, 13 votes. I had 52 votes, >20 dls, and 27 reviews with an average score of 9.6...ALL WITHIN 21 HOURS. Yeah. I"m not too happy, but I agree. I wish I could have gotten better quality voices, but it was there and easily accessable. I'm planning on making my own lyrics with a singer that I actually have them record. That's the kinda stuff that's not gonna be on NG. It'll just ignored like this song.

Brambles {RMX}

"Really good!"

submission: Brambles {RMX}
date: April 21, 2008

I absolutely love this track from Donkey Kong Country 2. It's definitely one of my favorites, and you did a good job remixing it. I do have a few pointers to make, however.

From the way it sounds, you tried to somewhat replicate the synths that were used in the original version, but the problem is that most of your synths were not well-defined, in my opinion. What I am meaning to say is that they aren't clearly heard, and their ends can get just a bit washed up in the background.

The entire set of percussions came in all too abruptly. The bassline changed quickly as well, and it seemed to mess up the flow of the track. I loved the bassline before and the bassline after, but this transition was extremely short when it could have been slightly longer, smoother, and better! I also think the percussion could have been stepped up just a little bit.

Other than these points I've made, I think you have an amazing remix. I'm definitely going to have to send out a remix of this track at some point in time.

Neodrummer - New World

"Potential, potential, potential."

date: April 19, 2008

Well, I'd like to start off saying that I didn't exactly enjoy listening to the bass. The notes that were played were great, but I was just a bit iffy about the bass that was used. Percussion, however, was top notch. Great use of phasers. As for the synth, it was pretty basic (can't expect TOO much from TS404), but even so, it is definitely challenging to produce a variety of attractive synths with TS404 -- you did a good job. Reverb... ahh, I love reverb!!! Very atmospheric and vast, and I really like that in electronica.

This track is fairly simple, but with that in mind, this is surely only a fraction of the effort and talent you possess! I can tell that there was a lot of effort put into this. Keep it up, Neo.

Author's Response:

Yeah, with the tons of effort i put in making synths and effects and such, i didn't want this to be to crazy if you know what i mean. Thanks for the review.

"Good stuff."

Not bad at all. This is one of my favorite tracks from Super Mario 64, and I think you did a wonderful job of remaking it. There really isn't much else for me to say other than keep up what you have going. =)

[SD] DuckTales Fun on the Moon

"Great times..."

date: April 1, 2008

Haha, loved DuckTales for the NES! Although my memory of the stage is somewhat vague, I can recognize the music. I think you did a very good job of remixing it. Very enjoyable track!

It makes me want to go play it right now. =P

April 2, 2008

Author's Response:

Wooo thanks Imn! Let me refresh your memory: the stage was on the moon, outside or inside a spaceship.... That's about it! :)

Mario World March #3!

"Great!"

date: March 29, 2008

Excellent take on the original track. I liked it very much, not much else to say. =D

Oh, and Ultimate88, who's to say he did not already get permission from the sequencer who had originally submitted the MIDI to VGMusic, huh? VGMusic is an archive, nothing more; you can't steal from VGMusic, but you can steal from the original sequencer if you haven't asked for permission. Automatically jumping to a conclusion such as that which you have done is an act of ignorance.
